Future, Present & Past
I ate lunch in the Husky Den with a West Seattle High School student who was attending UW Native American Student Day. I later ran into some present & past Huskies just finishing their lunch. Pictured below is my lunch partner, Isaiah Wales, future Husky. Current UW Information School Student, Miranda and past, Jody Olney who I learned works at Davis, Wright, Tremaine where my husband works!
Speed Lunch
On my way to the HUB I took a short cut through Suzzalo and ran into an old friend, Shannon Goodwin. Shannon and I were on Student Council together at Seattle Central Community College.

The orientation on Cheerful Givers from Brianna Keller. I think there were about 30 people there and we made 300 gift bags in about 20 minutes! I had time to grab a coffee with Lynda Jensen afterward. On our way back to work we were offered a sweet treat compliments of the HBSA. I can’t believe I did all this and got back to the office with 15 minutes to spare!

HOT LUNCH – Cheerful Givers
Today is a working lunch of sorts. I’m going to grab snack and then go help my friend Brianna with her philanthropy work, see story from uweek below. Come if you can it is open to all!

Cheerful Givers group holds workshop at noon today
|
The campus Cheerful Givers group — which helps homeless and low-income children celebrate birthdays by providing them gift bags — is holding a bag-filling workshop today, Nov. 13, from noon to 1 p.m. in HUB 200 A, B and C.
The workshop, timed to reflect National Philanthropy Day (Nov. 15). Group members will hold what they call a Birthday Bag Blitz and also tell visitors how their group helps underprivileged children.
Register for this free event at www.washington.edu/uwcfd/events/html. For more information, call Kerri Everly at 206-616-5437.

Missed Connection
Sara Sanford and Raul Anaya were just finishing up lunch when I arrived at Guanaco’s Taco’s Pupuseria. This was a goodbye lunch as Sara was wrapping up a temp job on campus today being her last day. She had impressed Raul with her fluency in Spanish and helpfulness with student housing issues. I had a feeling I’d be eating alone so I brought along a book.
